As part of the ongoing search for Lilly and Jack Sullivan, the RCMP will now employ police dogs specially trained to detect human remains, following the siblings' disappearance over four months ago from their home in Lansdowne Station, Pictou County.
This is the first time that human remains detection teams are being deployed in this case. Previous searches relied on dogs that track human scent, but not those trained to detect remains. The RCMP confirmed searches are going ahead, but would not reveal when or exactly where , citing safety concerns and the needs of the investigation.
Although there is currently no definitive evidence of the children's demise, they remain unaccounted for, following unsuccessful searches.
On May 2nd, Lilly and Jack went missing from their rural, wooded home. The investigation has involved multiple volunteers, police efforts, forensic exams (including on a pink blanket thought to belong to Lilly) and polygraph tests. If you have any details, however minor, please contact the police, as it may help bring Jack and Lilly home.
The investigation has incorporated polygraph tests for multiple family members, who were all found truthful, and has received hundreds of public tips. The children were last seen on May 1st, at a local store with their mother and stepfather.
